Boise, Idaho - On a drizzly evening at Memorial Stadium, the Everett AquaSox were better equipped for the wet conditions as they defeated the Hawks by a score of 8-4.
Logan Sawyer received his first start at Memorial Stadium for the Hawks and gave up three early runs before settling down to pitch five solid innings, giving up three earned runs on five hits with five strikeouts and picking up his first loss of the season.
The Hawks picked up one run in the third inning when Brian Carroll scored on a Carlos Herrera RBI single to left field.
The AquaSox added two runs in the fifth inning to take a 5-1 lead before the Hawks responded with a three-spot in the sixth inning.
Kevin Padlo led off with a single and Brian Mundell followed with a five-pitch walk. A pass ball scored Padlo before Wesley Jones stepped to the plate and smashed a towering home run over the left field wall that tightened the score at 5-4.
That would be all the scoring for the Hawks as the Sox played add on, scoring two runs in the seventh and one run in the eighth inning, taking the game by a final score of 8-4.
Lane Ratliff picked up the win for the AquaSox, pitching five innings and giving up one earned run on five hits with three walks.
The Hawks and AquaSox will meet again tomorrow night at Memorial Stadium for game four of this five game series. First pitch is set for 7:15 p.m.
Notes: Kevin Padlo swiped another base tonight… He is now 12/12 on the season in stolen base attempts… Wesley Jones hit his first home run of the season… Brian Carroll hit his first professional triple on the evening.
