Boise, Idaho - Wilkyns Jimenez slapped a two-run single and the Hawks rode a five run third inning to victory over the Eugene Emeralds on Tuesday night, winning by a final score of 5-4.
Dylan Craig received his first professional baseball start for the Hawks and quickly loaded the bases in the first inning but escaped after giving up just one run.
The Emeralds added another run in the second on a Frandy De La Rosa RBI double before the Hawks erupted in the third inning for a two-out rally that produced five runs.
Carlos Herrera got things going with a single before Jensen Park and Hamlet Marte ripped a pair of RBI singles. The Hawks then loaded the bases and Wilkyns Jimenez smacked a two-run single. Marcos Derkes tacked on another RBI single and the Hawks took a 5-2 lead.
The Emeralds added runs in the fifth and sixth innings and put the tying run on second base in the top of the ninth but Craig Schlitter slammed the door and sent the Hawks home victorious.
The Hawks (20-38) and the Emeralds (28-30) will meet for the rubber match of this three game series tomorrow night. First pitch set for 7:15 p.m.
Notes: Logan Sawyer picked up his third win of the season… Craig Schlitter was credited with his first save of the year… Kevin Padlo has now reached base in 12 consecutive games… Wilkyns Jimenez went 2 for 4 with two RBI.
