Vancouver, British Columbia - The Hawks used late inning RBI hits from Tyler Follis and Steven Leonard to secure their season-high fourth consecutive win as they took the game and the series from the Vancouver Canadians on Thursday afternoon by a score of 5-3.
Ryan McCormick took the mound for the Hawks and equaled his longest outing of the season, pitching five innings while giving up one earned run on eight hits with one strikeout.
In the fifth inning, with the score locked at 1-1, the Hawks scored two runs off a fielder's choice and a Marcos Dereks RBI single that gave the Hawks a 3-1 lead.
The Canadians responded in the bottom half of the sixth inning, scoring two runs of their own when Rolando Segovia ripped a two-run double that tied the game at 3-3.
Tyler Follis hit a pinch-hit RBI double in the eighth inning and Steven Leonard added a solo home run in the ninth as the Hawks took the victory by a score of 5-3.
The Hawks (13-16) will travel to Salem-Keizer (14-14) to face the Volcanoes for a three game series before heading home for the final six games of the year. First pitch is set for 7:35 p.m.
Notes: Hawks manager, Frank Gonzales was ejected for arguing a call in the second inning. It was his first ejection of the seaso… Steven Leonard hit his first professional baseball home run.
