Boise, Idaho - Brian Mundell drove in three runs, including a two-run home run but it was not enough as the Hawks fell to the Eugene Emeralds on Tuesday night by a score 15-8.
In the fourth inning, with the Emeralds already leading 5-2, Eloy Jimenez punched an RBI single that chased Hawks starting pitcher, Jack Wynkoop.
Angel Lezama entered and Andrew Ely jumped on his first pitch, sending it over the right field wall for a three-run home run to extend the Emeralds lead to 9-2.
The Emeralds broke the game open in the fifth inning, sending 10 batters to the plate and scoring five runs on five hits to push the lead to 14-2.
The Hawks responded in the bottom half of the inning, scoring three runs on a Kevin Padlo RBI double and a Brian Mundell two-run home run, his third of the season.
The Emeralds added one run in the sixth inning on a wild pitch before the Hawks tacked on three runs on home runs from Luis Castro and Kevin Padlo.
However, the damage had been done and the Emeralds completed the three game sweep of the Hawks, winning by a final score of 15-8.
The Hawks (17-34) will travel to face the Tri-City Dust Devils (28-22) tomorrow night. First pitch is set for 8:15 p.m.
Notes: Kevin Padlo extended his hitting streak to seven games, going 3 for 4 with four RBI, including a two-run home run… Brian Mundell went 3 for 5 with three RBI… The Hawks remain the league leader in stolen bases despite not swiping a bag on the evening… Wynkoop picked up his second loss of the season… The Hawks have lost seven consecutive games.
