Eugene, Oregon - The Hawks led early, scoring five runs in the first three innings but could not hold on as they fell to the Emeralds by a score of 9-5.
The Hawks scored two first inning runs on a Kevin Padlo RBI double and a balk from Emeralds starting pitcher, Oscar De La Cruz to take an early 2-0 lead.
The Emeralds responded in the bottom of the first with two runs of their own, highlighted by an Ian Rice RBI double off Hawks starting pitcher, Angel Lezama.
After loading the bases in the fifth inning, a Brian Mundell RBI sacrifice fly followed by a Hamlet Marte two-run double, gave the Hawks a 5-2 lead.
That would be all the offense the Hawks would produce as the Emeralds scored seven unanswered runs on Hawks pitchers to take game two of this three game series by a final score of 9-5.
Lezama took his first loss of the season, pitching four innings and giving up six runs- four earned - on six hits with four strikeouts.
De La Cruz picked up his third win of the season for the Emeralds.
Notes: Carlos Herrera stole two bases and is now tied with Drew Jackson of Everett for the league lead at 21… Forrest Wall made his Hawks debut and went 1 for 2 with a single, a run scored and a walk… Herrera continued his hot hitting, going 3 for 5 and raising his average to .308… Kevin Padlo picked up his 26th RBI of the season.
