Boise, Idaho - The Hawks controlled most of the game until a late-inning rally produced five unanswered runs and gave the Emeralds the win by a final score of 7-4.
The Hawks got on the board first, putting up a three spot in the second inning off Emeralds starting pitcher, Kyle Miller. Terry McClure and Wesley Jones hit back-to-back one out singles that set up Wilkyns Jimenez for an RBI single.
Newly acquired Boise Hawk, Jensen Park followed with a two-run triple to right field and the Hawks took a 3-0 lead.
The Emeralds responded in the fifth inning when Adonis Paula connected on a deep two-run home run off Hawks starting pitcher, Jack Wynkoop.
The Hawks tacked on one more run when Hamlet Marte scored on a throwing error before the Emeralds tied it up at 4-4 in the eighth inning on a two-run single from Alex Bautista.
The Emeralds sealed the deal in the ninth inning, scoring three runs on four consecutive hits, highlighted by a Frandy De La Rosa two-run single that gave the Emeralds the 7-4 win.
The Hawks (19-38) and the Emeralds (28-29) will meet again tomorrow night for the second game of this three game series. First pitch is set for 7:15 p.m.
Notes: Kevin Padlo's 11 game hitting streak came to an end as he went 0 for 3 with a walk… The Hawks went 0 for 1 on the night in stolen base attempts but remain in the NWL league lead for steals… Cristian Quintin picked up his fifth loss of the season… Jack Wynkoop pitched five solid innings to earn the no-decision.
