Pasco, Washington - The Hawks held the lead for the first seven innings but the Tri-City Dust Devils used some late-inning magic to complete an extra innings comeback and took the first game of this series five game series by a score of 4-3.
The Hawks wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, putting up one run in the first inning on a Kevin Padlo sacrifice fly that scored Carlos Herrera, who reached after being hit by a pitch.
Logan Sawyer held on to the lead and never let go, mowing through the Dust Devils lineup, allowing just three hits with four strikeouts while tossing five shutout innings.
The score held until the seventh inning when the Hawks added two runs on back-to-back RBI singles from Scott Burcham and Padlo to push the lead to 3-0.
The Dust Devils got on the board in the bottom half of the inning, taking advantage of three walks and two hit batters by Hawks relievers to pull to within one at 3-2.
The Dust Devils tied the game one inning later when Peter Van Gansen whacked a two-out RBI single.
The game remained tied and moved into extra innings where the Dust Devils won it in walk-off fashion courtesy of a Justin Pacchioli RBI double, securing the 4-3 victory.
The Hawks (17-35) and Dust Devils (29-23) will play again tomorrow night at 8:15 p.m.
Notes: Kevin Padlo extended his hitting streak to eight games… Padlo also added his 35th and 36th RBI… Scott Burcham hit his first triple of the season and plated his 7th RBI… Cristian Quintin picked up his third loss of the season… The Hawks have lost eight consecutive games for the first time since 2010.
