EVERETT, Washington – The Boise Hawks dropped game two of the five game series against the Everett Aquasox on Saturday night by a score of 6-1.
The Aquasox grabbed the early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third off Hawks starting pitcher, Colin Welmom, after an RBI triple from Luis Liberato.
Welmon was pulled after pitching four innings, giving up three runs on six hits with three strikeouts while picking up the loss.
The Hawks pulled to within one run in the top of the fifth after Joey Wong smacked a leadoff double down the left field line. Brian Carroll added a one out single before Eric Toole ripped an RBI single into center field, scoring Wong and closing the score to 2-1.
The Hawks offense was unable to manufacture any more runs on the night as the Aquasox played add on for the remainder of the evening, highlighted by home runs from Corey Simpson and Luis Liberato.
Joseph Pistorese picked up the win for the Aquasox, pitching three innings while giving up no runs on just one hit with two strikeouts.
The Hawks are now 4-6 on the season as the Aquasox even up this five game series at one game apiece. Game three will be tomorrow afternoon at 5:05 p.m.
Notes: Eric Toole and Brian Carroll both had stolen bases for the Hawks who lead the league in steals (26)…. Joey Wong had a double and a run scored in his first start of the year… Yonathan Daza was a late scratch from the lineup with an illness.
